When you think of Arabic food, the first thing that comes to mind is Hummus and Pita Bread! And it well deserves that thought because it is an absolutely tasty dish. Here’s how to make Hummus on your own in just 15 minutes! Hummus is also protein-rich and goes extremely well with pita bread. If you have enough time, leave it in the fridge for a day after making it, and it tastes absolutely delicious the next! So try it out and share your comments!

Hummus
Furthermore, I would like to share some tips for easy hummus recipe. Firstly, In this recipe, I have used canned chickpeas. If you don’t have canned peas, then soak a cup of dry chickpeas overnight with enough water. Then drain and cook them with fresh water and salt until tender.
Secondly, if you don’t have tahini paste, dry roast white sesame seeds on medium-low heat until it turns golden brown or until nice aroma comes, let it cool down for some time. Place them in a food processor until it forms a crumbly paste. Then add a pinch of salt and few tablespoons of light olive oil, make a smooth paste.
Finally, you can serve the hummus with fresh homemade pita bread or you can also serve it with crackers, raw dip vegetables like carrot and cucumber.

- 1 canned chickpeas (250g)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup store bought tahini paste
- 2 small garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil plus more for serving
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- salt to taste
- 2 to 3 tbsp water
- paprika powder for garnishing Instructions
- Drain and rinse chickpeas, then remove the skin from the chickpeas and keep it aside.
- Place the chickpeas, tahini paste, lemon juice, cumin powder, minced garlic and salt in a food processor and process until combined.
- Then add water and process again.
- At this stage add olive oil and process until quite smooth.
- Finally, place hummus in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle red paprika power over the top.
