Delightful Orange Chicken Recipe with an Indian Twist

Whenever we go to Chinese restaurants, Orange Chicken is a must-have dish for us! This time, I tried to add an Indian touch to it and made some small variations to the ingredients to make it more flavorful. And, I must say, this dish turned out to be one of our family favorites!

If you are a fan of Orange Chicken, then this recipe is a must-try for you. Follow these simple steps and enjoy the deliciousness of this dish with your loved ones. Don't forget to leave your comments after trying this recipe.

Tips for Perfect Orange Chicken:

Firstly, combine all the sauce ingredients in a bowl and adjust the amount of sauces as per your taste. In this recipe, I used boneless chicken breasts. But you can also add boneless thigh pieces or even chicken drumsticks. For a healthier option, stir-fry the marinated chicken with 2 tbsp of olive oil instead of deep-frying the chicken.

The combination of tangy orange juice, sweet brown sugar, spicy red chili flakes, and minced garlic will add a big flavor to this dish. Be sure to use fresh and juicy oranges to get the perfect tangy flavor.

Finally, serve the Orange Chicken along with buttery white rice and roasted veggies or steamed broccoli to make it a complete meal.

So, what are you waiting for? Try this delicious Orange Chicken recipe with an Indian twist and enjoy the burst of flavors in your mouth!

  • oil to deep fry

For orange sauce:

  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 2 garlic pods, minced

  • 2 tbsp water

For garnishing:

  • Then mix the cornflour in water in a small bowl and keep it aside for further use.
  • Finally, combine all the ingredients given for orange sauce (up to chili flakes) in a bowl, mix well until incorporated and keep it aside.
  • Heat a pan or kadai with enough oil to fry over medium heat.
  • Meanwhile, combine the beaten egg with marinated chicken pieces, mix well until all the chicken pieces are well coated with the beaten egg.
  • Then dust them with all-purpose flour and transfer them into the hot oil.
  • Fry all the chicken pieces in batches till they become golden brown over medium heat.
  • Meanwhile, heat a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, add oil or butter, when the oil heats, add minced garlic and fry until browned.

  • When it becomes slightly thick, add the cornflour mixture and boil it up to a thick consistency.
  • Once it thickens, (turn the heat to low) add all the fried chicken pieces and allow them to cook for 3 minutes. Stir continuously, hence the chicken pieces absorb all the sauce and it will have a nice glossy texture. (If the sauce is too thick, add some hot water)
  • At this stage switch off the heat and finally, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
