Ingredients
- 1/2 cup custard powder
- 1&1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1&1/2 tbsp ghee
- 1 tbsp finely chopped cashew nuts
- 1/8 tsp cardamom powder
Instructions
- Take the custard powder in the wide heavy bottomed non-stick pan, add sugar and water and whisk it well until sugar completely dissolves, without any lumps.
- Then place the pan over high heat, keep whisking till it is thick, glossy and jelly form.
- At this stage, turn the heat to medium and use a wooden spatula to mix.
- Then add 1/2 tbsp of ghee and keep on mixing.
- After 3 mins add another 1/2 tbsp of ghee and mix well.
- When it becomes thick, add another 1/2 tbsp of ghee and mix continuously.
- Also add one more tbsp of ghee, if needed.
- At one stage, the halwa will leave the sides of the pan.
- Meanwhile, grease a plate with ghee and keep it aside.
- At this stage, add cashews and cardamom powder and mix well.
- When it is thick, comes together as a whole mass, glossy, nonsticky, the ghee oozes from the sides of the pan and the color changes to brown, switch off the heat.
- The whole process will take minimum 15 mins.
- Take a small portion, place it on a plate and roll it. If it forms like a ball, then it is the correct stage.
- Now transfer the halwa to the ghee greased plate and set it for 2 hours.
- Once it is set, cut into slices. Serve and enjoy!!!
